Why do many vegetable broths contain hardly any vegetables?

The name "vegetable bouillon" often promises more than it contains. Many products consist largely of salt, yeast extract, flavorings, fillers like maltodextrin—and hardly any real vegetables .

Why?
Real vegetables are expensive.
Drying, cutting, and processing costs time and money. Industrial manufacturers prefer to use cheap ingredients that simulate flavor, dissolve quickly, and have a long shelf life.

Many consumers are accustomed to a broth that has an intense flavor—even if it's only due to MSG, yeast extract, or flavoring . This isn't a true vegetable flavor.

Feedback from our customers and our passion for natural, healthy ingredients motivated us to develop this innovative product that combines quality and taste – without compromise.

Why vegetable broth?

We were repeatedly asked whether we also offered a purely plant-based bouillon. So we got to work – with the goal of developing a genuine TrueBrodo product: nutrient-rich, natural, and produced with care.

During research it quickly became clear:
The usual method of boiling vegetables, transferring the flavor to the water, and then discarding the vegetables wasn't efficient enough for us. Preserving raw vegetables with just salt didn't convince us either—the result is usually a watery and far too salty broth.

The solution: drying instead of paste

We found our answer in one of the oldest methods of preservation: drying.
We gently remove moisture from the vegetables at low temperatures. This preserves the nutrients and enhances the flavor. The result:

  1. The vegetables lose 90% of their weight
  2. The ingredients are preserved
  3. The taste is concentrated and natural

We deliberately avoided using a paste, as no oil meets our standards for durability and quality. Our tip: Simply add a good, cold-pressed oil of your choice after cooking.

And: We deliberately avoid spices like pepper, as they lose their flavor with storage. You can add them yourself as desired while cooking.

What’s inside – and what’s not

Our vegetable bouillon consists of 60% dried and ground organic vegetables and 40% sea salt.

It contains:

❌ no fillers

❌ no maltodextrin

❌ no glutamate (MSG)

❌ no yeast

❌ no sugar

❌ no allergens

Because we avoid industrial processing, some of the vegetables remain visible – and retain their structure depending on the cooking time.
